Common Garage Door Cable Issues
Fraying or Wear
Continuous use can cause garage door cables to fray or weaken over time. As the cables deteriorate, they become more susceptible to snapping, which can compromise both the door’s functionality and safety.
Rust and Corrosion
Exposure to moisture can lead to rust buildup on the cables, weakening their structure and increasing friction with the pulleys. This added strain accelerates wear and can eventually cause the cables to break.
Improper Tension
Garage door cables must have the right tension for smooth operation. Cables that are too loose or too tight can put unnecessary stress on the system, leading to premature wear, misalignment, or difficulty opening and closing the door properly.
